About sabia

Germany is the third-largest economy in the world. Yet the way people here invest is fundamentally broken. Most don't invest at all — and those who do are often pushed into the wrong products by advisors who earn commissions instead of fees. Around 99% of financial advisors are commission-driven, so incentives are totally misaligned. That has to change.

We're building the AI-native financial advisory of the future — high-quality advice at a price everyone can afford — and arming the rebels: the fee-based advisors who share our vision, with AI-native tools that let them serve far more people than before.

Berlin-based, pre-seed, real customers, partnerships with Vanguard and Growney. Two hubs in Berlin and Frankfurt — this is not a fully remote company; you'll work out of one of them. Founding-stage: hands on keys every day. Leadership and ownership grow as you ship, not instead of shipping.

The role

We care less about where you went to school and more about what you've shipped. Show us the GitHub, the side project, the thing you couldn't help building.

You'll be one of the first engineers at sabia, working alongside the founders and early team on the planning, advisory, and data systems that power everything we do — across the full stack, on hard problems that matter, with the equity and trajectory that come with being early.

What you'll do

  • Build product across our full stack (currently TypeScript, Next.js, Vercel, Supabase, Vercel AI SDK) — backend, frontend, data, agents.
  • Own features end-to-end — from "this is a real customer problem" to "this is in production."
  • Work on hard problems: model-portfolio recommendation, the advisor planner flow, wealth data pipelines, retirement health scoring, agent-driven planning, partner integrations.
  • Build internal tooling that makes our advisors, ops, and compliance faster.
  • Stay at the edge of AI tooling — try the new harness, bring back what works.
  • Spend time with customers; we deploy alongside our advisors and our users.

What we're looking for

  • 2+ years of professional engineering experience. If you're good, that's enough.
  • A portfolio that speaks for itself — we'll read your code before your resume.
  • An excellent full-stack engineer with strong TypeScript who can ship a feature from spec to production without handoffs.
  • Genuine comfort with financial data — you sweat the numbers and double-check the rounding.
  • Real LLM experience and AI-forward by default: you've built something with an LLM in the loop and have a view on what good looks like. A daily user of Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent.
  • Genuinely interested in personal finance — enough to understand what our customers go through, even if it means studying for a §34f license yourself.
  • A self-starter; you don't need a roadmap to know what to do next.
  • Prior startup experience.
  • Fluent English and German at C1 level.

Nice to have

  • Experience in fintech or regulated environments (BaFin, MiFID II, FCA, SEC).
  • Familiarity with financial APIs and open banking.
